Frequently asked questions

Everything travelers usually ask before a trip to Italy. Can't find your answer? We're a message away.

When is the best time to visit Italy?

April to October offers the most comfortable weather across the country. Spring and early autumn are especially rewarding, with mild days and the wine harvest, and fewer crowds in Rome, Florence and Venice. High summer is best for the Amalfi Coast and the lakes, while the Vatican and Italy's shrines welcome pilgrims year-round. Every Tourkom trip is tailored to the season and pace you prefer.

Do I need a visa for Italy?

Italy is part of the Schengen area, so many nationalities can visit visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism. From the last quarter of 2026, visa-exempt travelers will need an approved ETIAS travel authorisation before arrival, a quick online application with a small fee. Your passport should be issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure. Requirements vary by nationality, and our team confirms the right route for you when planning your trip.

How many days do I need in Italy?

A focused Rome and Vatican trip works well over 4 to 5 days. Adding Florence and Venice makes 8 to 10 days ideal, and combining the classic cities with Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast or the shrines suits 10 to 14 days. Every Tourkom itinerary is a flexible starting point we tailor to your dates and interests.

Is Italy safe for tourists?

Italy is a well-established destination with excellent tourism infrastructure and welcomes millions of visitors each year. As in any major country, take normal precautions against pickpocketing in busy areas of Rome, Florence and Venice and on public transport. We plan routes and logistics carefully and recommend checking your government's latest travel advice before you go.

What currency is used in Italy?

Italy uses the Euro (EUR). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, though it is handy to carry some cash for small cafes, markets, tips and rural spots.

How do I get around Italy?

Fast trains connect Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples in just a couple of hours each, making the classic cities easy to link. For the Tuscan vineyards, the Amalfi Coast and the shrines, a private transfer or car is the most comfortable way to explore, which we can arrange as part of your program.

Can Tourkom arrange Vatican and shrine pilgrimages in Italy?

Yes. Rome is the heart of the Catholic world, and we design pilgrimages to the Vatican, Saint Peter's and the Jubilee Holy Doors, together with beloved shrines such as Loreto, Padua and San Giovanni Rotondo. We arrange Masses, guided visits and audiences where possible. Every program is tailored to your faith focus and pace.

Do you handle MICE and group travel in Italy?

Yes. Italy is a superb destination for conferences, incentives and gala events, from Rome and Florence to the lakes and the Amalfi Coast. Tell us your group size and goals and we will build a tailored proposal.
