Frequently asked questions

Everything travelers usually ask before a trip to France. Can't find your answer? We're a message away.

When is the best time to visit France?

April to October offers the most comfortable weather across the country. Spring and early autumn are especially rewarding, with warm days, blossom or the wine harvest, and fewer crowds in Paris, the Loire and Provence. High summer is glorious on the Riviera, while winter brings Alpine skiing and festive markets. Every Tourkom trip is tailored to the season and pace you prefer.

Do I need a visa for France?

France is part of the Schengen area, so many nationalities can visit visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism. From the last quarter of 2026, visa-exempt travelers will need an approved ETIAS travel authorisation before arrival, a quick online application with a small fee. Your passport should be issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure. Requirements vary by nationality, and our team confirms the right route for you when planning your trip.

How many days do I need in France?

A focused Paris and Versailles trip works well over 4 to 5 days. Adding the Loire chateaux, or a wine region such as Bordeaux or Burgundy, makes 8 to 10 days ideal, and pilgrimage journeys to Lourdes fit comfortably into a week or more. Every Tourkom itinerary is a flexible starting point we tailor to your dates and interests.

Is France safe for tourists?

France is a well-established destination with excellent tourism infrastructure and welcomes millions of visitors each year. As in any major country, take normal precautions against pickpocketing in busy areas of Paris and on public transport. We plan routes and logistics carefully and recommend checking your government's latest travel advice before you go.

What currency is used in France?

France uses the Euro (EUR). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, though it is handy to carry some cash for small cafes, markets, tips and rural spots.

How do I get around France?

Fast TGV trains connect Paris with Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and Nice in just a few hours, making city-to-city travel easy. For the Loire chateaux, the vineyards and the villages of Provence, a private transfer or car is the most comfortable way to explore, which we can arrange as part of your program.

Can Tourkom arrange wine tours and shrine visits in France?

Yes. France is the spiritual home of fine wine, and we design journeys through Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne with tastings, cellar visits and fine regional dining. We also arrange dedicated pilgrimages to Lourdes and the great cathedrals of Chartres, Reims and Paris, with Masses and processions. Every program is tailored to your interests and faith or wine focus.

Do you handle MICE and group travel in France?

Yes. France is a superb destination for conferences, incentives and gala events, from Paris and Versailles to the Riviera and the vineyards. Tell us your group size and goals and we will build a tailored proposal.
